Gary Johnson
Board of Directors
Gary is one of the original board members of RHCI, helping to build the organization from the ground up.  He earned his MD degree from the University of Minnesota.  He has completed postgraduate medical residencies, and is board certified, in internal medicine and occupational and preventive medicine.  He earned his Masters in Public Health degree at the University of Minnesota.  He is a Fellow in the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
Gary left a 29 year career in occupational medicine in April 2016 to live in Tikonko, Sierra Leone accompanied by his wife, Sandra.  Sandra and Gary worked in Tikonko into late September, 2016.  After returning home for a brief time, Gary returned to Tikonko in December, living in the village until late March, 2017.  While in Tikonko last year, Gary was able to follow the building of RHCI’s birth waiting home (BWH) from groundbreaking ceremony to painting and tiling.  (For more information, see blog dated August 15, 2017.)
Gary is now working in spine care at Physician’s Diagnostics and Rehabilitation in Edina and Maplewood, Minnesota.
