Alice Karpeh (Founder and past Board Chair), a Certified Midwife, was born in Bo City, Sierra Leone. Alice is the founder and visionary behind RHCI. She is currently employed at Boynton Health Service at the University of Minnesota as a nurse and occupies roles in several other non-profit organizations: Tegloma International-Minnesota Chapter (Vice President), an international association of Sierra Leoneans in MN; All Nation Christian Assembly (Treasurer of the Board); and No Greater Love International (Board Member), a non-profit operating an orphanage in Sierra Leone.
RHCI has been Alice’s dream and vision for over 20 years, since she practiced midwifery and saw the immense suffering of her own people. After losing her husband in the civil war and immigrating to the United States, Alice deferred that dream in order to survive and raise the children that accompanied her from Sierra Leone. In 2010, she picked the vision back up and founded RHCI. Over the past 6 years, she has traveled to Tikonko four times, with an extended six month stay in 2016.
