Nearing completion of Birth Waiting Home

By June 4, 2017No Comments

As of June 4, 2017, the Birth Waiting Home (BWH) complex in Tikonko, Sierra Leone is in its final stages of construction. Currently the construction team, under contractor Sampson Tommy, is building the latrine, water tower and triage building.

Meanwhile, back in Minnesota, the BWH committee is working on the policies, job descriptions, operational plans and staffing.  These will be reviewed by the Tikonko RHCI Project Committee (local Tikonko Chiefdom leaders) before being implemented.  See picture of Committee on the upper left.

A monitoring and evaluation plan is taking shape with the outcomes and impact of the BWH available to stakeholders in the future.

The funding for the BWH furnishings and equipment is progressing well due to donors to the Mother’s Day Appeal. The Father’s Day Appeal donations will also be used for furnishing and equipping the building.

RHCI gratefully thanks everyone for their generous support.
