With over 230 people in attendance, the 4th Annual Taste of Africa was the best one yet! As MC, Dr. Gary Johnson staged a “phone call” to RHCI in-country director Manley Jongopie, and brought to the screen videos of RHCI’s current work. Founder Alice Karpeh expressed gratitude to everyone for their ongoing support for the mission of RHCI in her home of Tikonko Chiefdom.
Titambe Drum and Dance performers entertained the audience with their music and moves, plus engaged everyone in dancing. This was followed by Board Chair Sarah Cassell who shared information on the impact of RHCI in the Tikonko Chiefdom (see Impact News). The Africa themed Silent Auction was a hit and many people carried away great buys including the South African Safari!
The authentic Africa food featured Fasika Ethiopian Restaurant, Afro Deli, and Sierra Leone Chef Kumba Senesie. From Sambusas, injera bread, curry, plantains, rice, chicken, beef kabobs, and more, everyone truly savored the culture, while supporting the mission.
Many volunteers and board members participated in the behind the scenes work, making the event successful. The proceeds after expenses came to over $22,000 which will be used to fund the operations of the Mbaomi Mothers’ Home, Childhood Development, Rural Health Redevelopment and Agricultural and Sustainability programs!

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated to the silent auction donations and helped in any other way. And most importantly, thank you to the many donors who are helping RHCI make the world a bit better, one village or chiefdom at a time. We cannot do this without you.
