The work of Rural Health Care Initiative is carried out by the dedicated staff in the Tikonko Chiefdom. Each month this year we will feature one of our valuable staff members.
Manley Jongopie, RHCI In-Country Director, began working with RHCI in 2014. You will find Manley in many places, at his office at the Mbao-mi Mothers’ Home, at one of the outreach motorbike clinics checking on its operations, meeting with the Paramount Chief to discuss RHCI’s programs, supervising the purchases needed for Mbao-mi, traveling to Freetown to pick up the barrels shipped from Minnesota, to work on the RHCI registration or to buy PlumpyNut for the malnutrition program—AND many more. With a hands-on approach to leadership, he supervises a team of 13 other full-time RHCI staff and approximately 50 part-time staff.
Manley is well known and respected throughout the Tikonko Chiefdom. His family roots are in Tikonko Town, where he was born and raised. He left Tikonko during the war but has returned to serve his people. A graduate of highly respected Bo Boys Senior Secondary School, his education was disrupted by the war. He is now close to completing his university education with a focus on social work and development. Manley is the proud father of two sons, Septimus and Nelson.
RHCI is indeed fortunate to have Manley leading our team in Tikonko!
