The Solar Electric Bike arrived in Tikonko at the end of May 2021
The most recent shipment to Sierra Leone from Minnesota included an innovative form of transportation: a solar electric powered bicycle. Created by skilled volunteers from Solar Kits for Change, this bicycle was shipped by Salone Shipping, leaving Minnesota on February 28 and arriving in Sierra Leone in mid-May.
The solar powered bike is being used by RHCI staff for short trips around Tikonko Town and surrounding area. Having this form of transportation will save time and improve the efficiency of staff who usually rely on walking for short local trips.
RHCI wishes to thank Solar Kits for Change, and particularly Fran Crotty, Tom Schroeder and Glen Goldsby for making this possible.
