Outreach Clinics in Rural Tikonko Chiefdom

From Dr. Gary Johnson

Every Friday for the past two yeasr, RHCI has partnered with the Tikonko CHC to operate outreach clinics in rural Tikonko Chiefdom.

We serve the communities of Sunga, Lembema, Dodo, and Gbalihun. These communities were strategically selected to be gateways to even more remote villages, thereby serving large numbers of people; mostly women and children, as you can see.

These outreah clincis are wildly popular, and RHCI provides most of the funding for the clinics. We buy all the medicines used, and pay the nursing staff. We donate the use of our motorbike and driver, and pay for the gas and driver of the CHC bike. They provide the immunizations and birth control.

Historically, the women and children of these communities were not receiving regular care, including childhood immunizations and prenatal care, due to the distances involved between these communities and the Tikonko CHC.
