Since the devastating death from COVID-19, of Bo Children’s Hospital’s Pediatrician, Dr. Vandi Sombie, the entire Bo Children’s Hospital staff has been forced into quarantine. The reality of their quarantine meant little to no water or food during their 3 week confinement. RHCI’s In-Country Director, Manley Jongopie, writes of RHCI’s response,
“On the 15th of May, 2020 assorted item were donated to Bo Children Hospital staff in the quarantine home. Attending the presentation ceremony included; The Resident Minister South-Mr. Mohamed EK Allie, The Bo District Medical Officer- Dr. Marsh, The regional coordinator for COVID-19 – Hon. Eric B. Jumu, District Emergency Operation Centre for COVID-19 with a host of others.
In response, the COVID-19 Respond Team appreciated the donations and thanks RHCI donors for their timely intervention toward the fight against this pandemic. They hope and pray that the donors will do more to support in this fight.
The Board Chairman of Bo Children’s Hospital Dr. Wusu Sannoh also thanks RHCI for their partnership, and hopes and prays that the relationship will continue.
On behalf of RHCI I expressed my sincere sympathy for Bo Children’s Hospital for losing one of their dedicated doctors. I also encourage those in home quarantine to exercise patience, and wait for their slated time, as that will help their family members and the community slow the spread of the virus. I also encouraged them to use these items for the intended purpose.”
