This blog is one in a series about our hard-working,

dedicated Sierra Leone staff members.

Joseph Sogbandi has been with RHCI for two years, working as the Gondama Coordinator for Mobile Outreach Clinics and the Gondama Birth Waiting Home.  Working under and reporting to the in-country director Manley Jongopie, Joseph participates in the weekly Gondama Mobile Outreach Clinic, provides leadership and support for the Gondama Birth Waiting Home, and more recently has taken on responsibilities for technology access  and reporting related to RHCI’s program evaluation.

Joseph assisted in the establishment of the Mobile Outreach clinics and the opening of the Birth Waiting Home in Gondama.  He says the best part of his job is working with the Community Health Workers and patients plus creating reports.

Having grown up in Tikonko Town, Joseph now has a son also named Joseph!  He has a diploma in Human Resource Management and in Computer Software.  Currently, he is pursuing a university degree in Development Studies.  Previously, Joseph worked at World Vision International in the Tikonko Chiefdom with children’s information, and data management.

As a skilled motorbike driver, Joseph is knowledgeable about all the villages in the Chiefdom. Hobbies for Joseph include reading, watching soccer games and hanging out with friends.  His favorite food is potato leaf and rice, with vegetables and fish.

Quoting from Joseph, ” I would like to thank the people of the United States for the support to the people of Tikonko Chiefdom and Sierra Leone as a whole.  RHCI has contributed to reducing the maternal and neonatal deaths in Tikonko Chiefdom because of their support or sponsorship. The Outreach sessions have contribute to delivering health services to vulnerable or hard to reach communities, which has contributed to saving more lives.”
