Midwife Kits from Direct Relief Arrive in Tikonko

By June 6, 2023August 6th, 2023No Comments

Midwife kits, with supplies for 400 deliveries, arrived in Tikonko in early June via the Lungi airport. Ground transportation was arranged by RHCI’s in-country director Manley Jongopie to deliver the kits 160 miles in-land to RHCI’s headquarters at the Mbao-mi Mothers’ Home in Tikonko.

These kits will be distributed to the Tikonko and Gondama Community Health Centers for the licensed midwives to use for childbirth.  Having access to supplies and equipment make it possible to deliver a much higher standard of care and, in the process, save lives of mothers and babies.

Direct Relief works in the US and internationally to expand access to medicine and healthcare by equipping doctors and nurses with lifesaving medical resources.

Healthy People.
Better World.

That means all people — regardless of politics, religion, or ability to pay. Improving their lives is Direct Relief’s mission.

Mission-Driven

Direct Relief provides critical help to millions of people throughout the world. Direct Relief’s impact overseas, as in the U.S., is the result of many dedicated and compassionate people, each of whom plays a different but important role in advancing the organization’s mission.

RHCI and the people of Tikonko Chiefdom are grateful to Direct Relief and their staff for this major donation to RHCI.  This is the second shipment of midwife supplies to RHCI, the first one taking place in 2021.
