RHCI is supporting the formation of two additional Farmer Based Organizations this growing season, one in Kpakuma and one in the more remote village of Julae. Approximately 20 farmers (women and men) agree to work together to clear, farm and harvest a piece of land, with guidance from the Agriculture Business Center in Tikonko. RHCI pays for one year of their dues and seed for one year.
The first RHCI FBO, coordinated by RHCI staff Mohamed Kabba, successfully grew groundnuts and potatoes in 2017, donating a portion to the Mbao-mi Mothers’ Home for food for patients and staff.
The pictures here are from the Kpakuma FBO as their are clearing and brushing their land in preparation for seeding before the rainy season really sets in.
