Happy New Year!
With snow and ice encompassing Minnesota, six RHCI volunteers, including 3 board members, are on their way to hot and sunny Tikonko. The journey includes multiple forms of transportation, car, airplanes (multiple flights include crossing the Atlantic Ocean), ferry from Lungi Airport to Freetown to cross the deepest largest bay in West Africa, then car 160 miles to Tikonko. Plus there will be lots of walking while in Tikonko!
Plans for the trip include many meetings to renew relationships with local leaders and staff, evaluations and updating of employee’s job descriptions, Helping Babies Survive training for health care workers, inventory of supplies and equipment, review of our existing programs, and the launching of the new Children’s Health Malnutrition program. Taking photos and videos, and collecting stories to share will be the focus of board member Neil Craigan.
Travel Team members include: Alice Karpeh, Jill Gibbs, Kim Davis, Carol Nelson, Neil Craigan, and Nathan Henry. Watch Facebook for pictures and information as the journey progresses and the year 2019 unfolds.
