Statement from RHCI

By June 11, 2020No Comments

Our deepest sympathy is given to the family members and those touched by the death of George Floyd. The protests following his death, occurring in Minnesota and across the globe, demonstrate the need for communal support for those affected by this trauma. The demand for equality for Black lives sought during protests does not go unheard. As an organization that supports the health and well-being of Sierra Leoneans, we also recognize racial inequalities on a global level. Our efforts to provide opportunity and healthcare to our friends and families in Sierra Leone, stem from the systematic inequalities that exist in the world.

We continue to stand by members of our community impacted by social injustice and the civil unrest.  We continue, as an organization, to take a stand against the inequities that dominate our societies. We will continue to ensure that mothers and children in Sierra Leone receive equal opportunities for a healthy life. Rural Health Care Initiative was formed by a collective group of Sierra Leoneans and Americans whose goals are to bridge the gap of inequality by providing access to health care for the women and children of Tikonko Chiefdom in rural Sierra Leone. We believe we can stand together to bring justice and equality to our nation and our world. We grieve with you and we continue to be a voice that promotes peace, love, and justice for all.

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced” James Baldwin.”

Thank you for help building strong communities from Minnesota to Sierra Leone,

Rural Health Care Initiative Board Members
